Perhaps my favorite thing about the new Tuesday Love Your Body class is bringing together people for the shared intention of loving more. So prevalent in our work lives, and even in our extracurriculars --including many of our spiritual pursuits-- is the intention of trying to be better, to improve, to achieve, or even to be good enough. But for this class we are gathering to love something that is in need of loving attention.
While other activities involving the body, like hiking, dancing, going to yoga
class or working out, may be pleasurable and physically beneficial, we are using
the body to give us an experience. This experience may even be of unity or
oneness, but the underlying orientation is that we're looking to get something.
With this class we are showing up in order to give something.
Even a well-used and well-tended to body, after being put through its paces, just
needs love. We are so available to give our animals love-- isn't it time
we give our bodies love, too? So we are gathering in my beautiful sacred
space to give love to our bodies, especially if we feel bothered by them and maybe
can't even imagine how.
